Sports Medicine

Sports medicine is the medical specialty that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries occurring in a sporting activity.

Such injuries are one of the most frequent causes of visits to an orthopedic doctor. Sports injuries affect not only professional athletes, but, to extend the sport, the suffering all kinds of people. The most common injuries are sprains and strains. While some sports are more dangerous than others, all can cause injury, either because of a trauma of contact with other players, overuse or misuse of a body part, due to an accident.
